  "Since they had been "sold under sin" by their forefather Adam, his descendants could do nothing to relieve themselves of this crushing debt. (Romans 7:14) Death of the debtor alone could wipe it out, "for he who has died has been acquitted from his sin." (Romans 6:7)

  So, on the the one hand we have a "crushing debt" which we ourselves can do nothing about, but on the other hand, we can - simply by stopping breathing. Wonderful logic!!!

  Oh, oh, a very slight problem is created by the "inspired writers" of this corrupt thinking, namely, that Christ's ransom sacrifice and his suffering were totally meaningless, because our own deaths wash our sins away!!

  Definitely inspired teaching - but inspired by whom????

  Interestingly, the reference above to Romans 6:7 has been deleted from the Watchtower CD ROM Library. Why????

  how does a person (non-jw) outside the organization get this cd the wt publishes?

  how much does it cost?.

  note: i'm not asking how much it's worth.

  Only Witnesses are allowed to have the WT Library on CD ROM as it is a research tool for brothers and sisters. However, IMHO, I feel that in the not too distant future, we may be "asked" to dispose of all our copies of them, including from our PCs etc., and only use "current thinking" as presented on the Watchtower online Library.

  This would 'kill two birds with one stone' - it would save the Org more money, but more importantly, would prevent brothers and sisters (like myself) discovering the real truth about certain teachings and doctrines, by using such a uniquely comprehensive and illuminating reference work.

  I think it highly unreasonable that the W.O.L. would be produced and regularly updated, just to continue handing out costly CDs by the millions every year. We'll see!

  Anyone here able to explain to me (ignorant of legal procedures) why the WTBTS would stump up $86k per year to a third party, rather than just post the bond themselves?

  Doesn't strike me as a very clever way to manage your finances, but I guess I must be missing something pretty obvious here!

  the purpose of the christian era is to moves descendent of adam into the family of jesus, the "last adam eternal father.

  " 1co 15:45; isa 9:6 so, the christian order is familial, it is about jesus' family pleasing the father.. .

  this is why jesus is the center piece of the nt greek text.

  It's easy to repeat the false teaching that Judas never partook of the emblems of the New Covenant - but read Luke's account (22:19-23) for a bit more detail, and you will see the inspired account confirms that he did partake!!

  He was not present for Christ's revealing of the Kingdom Covenant, something for which no emblems were used.

  hi guys over a week ago i started a post about the doantions the society is now asking witnesses as never before .this is the letter that was put on the notice board .i know conditional donation agreement is not a new thing .but this letter was send out of the blue ,no one asked for it and as long as i remember this arrangement it was something you have to ask bethel .notice also how a specific group of people istrargeted ,namely the elderly one with properties ,please let me have your feedback.

  there is a saying that goes .no man can for any considerable time wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without getting bewildered as to which one is the true one...so do you find this to be true, when you have to wear a different face when you are among jws ..do you get tired of it all?.

  I feel certain that many in the 1st Century (just prior to Christ's arrival in 33 C.E) would have been "lurkers" in the Scriptures - discussing amongst themselves (sighing & groaning) how corrupt and false much of the Judaic teachings/practices were.

  Greater fulfillment today?

  i just came back from the meeting .although the local announcements have been abolished recently as an item for the second part , an elder came on the platform to announce that the society needs more money and there is a letter on the noticeboard for all the congragation to read to this effect.

  although the announcement was read half heartedly (this elder's daughter is an apostate ,it looks like he knows what's going on) the implictions are dramatic .

  the society in brief,requests any brother or sister with funds sitting on personal accounts to loan them to the society ,he didn't go into any specifics but i will take a picture of the letter next time and make it available here .. i'm not amazed that they're asking for money ,i thought it will happen sooner or later .what i'm amazed is that 99% of the congragation are oblivious to the financial crisis that the society finds itself these days and the reasons why .i can see the future now .the watchtower will be the fist part of the babylon the great to go down in a blaze of scandals and financial troubles !.

  Welcome - and be reassured that whatever conflicting emotions you have of being on a web site such as this, is something many of us have felt.

  If you are genuinely open to Bible truth, and not the "truth" fed by imperfect men, then consider two inculcated teachings of the Society which are clearly corrupt and spurious, but are presented as divine teachings from the Faithful Slave. (only the G.B.)

  By claiming sole responsibility for dispensing food at the proper time, these men judge themselves!!

  Here are the teachings, Scriptures, and questions to examine closely:

  "Wonderful new scrolls with new instructions for us will be opened during Christ's 1000 year reign". (Revelation 20:12) Where does it say "new" scrolls, what will they be used for, and by reading the previous 10 verses, exactly when are the scrolls opened?

  "The Governing Body in Jerusalem resolved the circumcision dispute." (Acts 15:1-29)

  The account in Acts reveals only a part of what took place: read Paul's personal account at Galatians 2:1-14, and ask yourself these critical questions:

  What impelled Paul to meddle in a so-called "governing body matter?". (Read verse 2)

  If there really was a GB, why hadn't Paul contacted them for 14 years - who was directing him?

  If there really was a GB, why did the Holy Spirit inconvenience Paul & his two witnesses, Barnabas & Titus (as well as the elders in Antioch who told them to go to Jerusalem to settle the dispute) instead of simply using "God's direct channel of communication on earth", the GB?

  Having considered the Scriptural evidence, who would you say was used to resolve the circumcision issue?

  I am referring to the perverted teaching that "new" scrolls will be opened during the millenium, and they will contain "wonderful new teachings."

  1. Revelation 20:12 says nothing about "new" scrolls.

  2. The scrolls mentioned in Revelation 20:12 have two functions only - to judge the dead and to give life.

  3. Revelation 20:1-10 clearly shows that the millenium has passed and Satan is destroyed before the scrolls are opened.

  John 3:16 & Exercise Faith

  i was trying to find a wt publication that specifically addresses why john 3:16 is translated "exercise faith" in the nwt.

  i have searched the wt cdrom, but cannot find anything.

  can anyone please give me the wt references that address why john 3:16 is translated this way?.

  I've always believed what James 2:24-26 says, that faith on its own is not enough.

  Surely believing in something is not enough to benefit by it. I believe that lotteries exist, but it's impossible for me to gain anything from them - because I do not act upon my belief.

  If faith was enough, Paul needn't have travelled extensively , risking his life. The necessary work, given by Christ, was to preach the good news and to make disciples - it would demonstrate faith in the Christ's sacrifice and help others to do the same. Hence Jesus' statement aabout requesting the Master of the harvest to send out more workers.

  In James 2:19 it says that the demons believe in God - but they shudder!! Believing ain't enough for anything.
